TGIF
Friday check in odds and ends!
Hello my Substack friends!
I hope you are all having a good week. I wanted to do an end of the week Friday check in on some things that are going on in my little world…
1. First of all to all of those who continue to ask, you can find my new 2way show "2way Happy Hour with Meghan McCain" on YouTube and the 2way app every Monday and Wednesday at 5pm eastern time love or replay it from the 2way YouTube channel later. My podcast co-host Miranda Wilkins officially joined the show last week and like so many things we have co-hosted before it feels like riding a bike in the best way possible. We have been so lucky to have the opportunity to work together for so long (over 10 years!) and be able to talk about whatever topics interest us without any censorship. The show is still very new and growing but we are having so much fun building a community and I continue to be grateful to Mark Halperin and all the people at the 2way company for giving us the platform to make the show possible. The Youtube link for the 2way channel can be found here:

Please let me know if there is anything in particularly you would like me to talk about and we will fit it in!
2. Spring is finally here and for anyone who lives in the DMV (for non locals that means - D.C., Maryland, Virginia) this is truly the best season because it is officially crab and oyster season and also my personal favorite. It makes the icy winters and gloomy weather really worth during this time of year.
I could literally eat an ocean of oysters as it is my favorite food - and a close second is any version of crab claws, soft shelled crabs, crab anything. As I have said before, my personal favorite crab restaurant is Cantlers in Annapolis where you can sit on the water and enjoy the fresh catch. It is the east coast summer vibes of your dreams.
The weather is finally getting warmer and I am cleaning out the girls' closets and pulling out the flip flops and sun dresses. My moods can be pretty heavily impacted by the seasonal changes (I blame growing up with all sunshine all the time in Phoenix, Arizona). I really thrive in the summer seasons and am just so grateful summer is around the corner. We will also be taking the girls home to Sedona for a month in the summer and I will be taping my show from there and tentatively going to be calling it "The Sedona Series". I cannot wait to continue to talk about the most pressing news in the country, but also show you a little bit about why Arizona and specifically Sedona is so special to me.
3. Are any of you watching HBO's "The Last Of Us"? SPOILER ALERTS!
I was absolutely obsessed with the first season as I love anything having to do with zombies or the apocalypse however my husband played the video game the show is based on and warned me that I was not going to like the second season. After last week's episode and Joel's murder I was not only shocked but after the episode called my friend Laurye who is also a diehard fan of the show and asked if we were going to be able continue watching The Last Of Us without Joel? I love all things Pedro Pascal and was watching half for him and his character... I respectfully don't know if Ellie's character or the actress Bella Ramsey can carry the rest of the show. I am open to being wrong but Lord, I am really, really bummed out they killed Joel. Are any of you watching? If so, are you feeling the same way? I am going to continue to give it a chance but feel like my momentum with the show is broken.
I am also very heavily into this last season of the Handmaid's Tale. The acting from all the actors and storytelling is completely superb. I also feel like one of the last people still watching but please let me know if you are as well. Also, save the jokes about me being compared to Serena Waterford, I have always found that so lazy and stupid.
4. I was influenced to buy this adorable button down and matching short set from Old Navy and this Sensi Studio woven bag for the summer by the incredible influencer Grace Atwood who has a huge following on social media and also here on substack. I couldn't recommend her as an influencer more - practically everything she styles I want to buy. I am so thrilled with both of these purchases and wanted to share in case you're doing some seasonal shopping.
Here are the links for both and I will be wearing them all summer:

5. I just started Sarah Hoover's bestselling book "The Motherload: Episodes from the Brink of Motherhood" after seeing it recommended by several different places I follow. Let me tell you, as someone who suffered with pretty severe postpartum anxiety after the birth of Liberty during covid, so far this is a really refreshing, candid, and uncensored take on the challenges facing modern mothers. There is a very specific experience for older millennials like myself who have been presented with a very unique and unprecedented set of challenges no other generation has had to navigate before while entering motherhood with the least amount of support from society at any time in history. I will let you know how I like it when I finish but so far I can't put it down.
6. Finally, my mom is coming into town this weekend and I am SO excited to spend time with her! It doesn’t matter how old you get, it is always special to spend time with your mother, especially when she lives in Rome. My girls are also obsessed with her and are very excited to see Grandma. We may even hit a White House Correspondents Dinner party together if we are feeling like it… We are skipping the actual dinner because sadly it is truly a shell of what it once was and with no comedian, and no President attending, well the vibes and entire purpose of the dinner is completely zapped. I also have been hearing amazing things about the new movie Sinners and may ask Ben to take both of us to see it this weekend. Have any of you seen it yet?
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and enjoy this gorgeous weather. Please feel free to put in the comments what political content you would like me to talk about on my 2way show next week or write about here on substack. Speak soon!
Love, Meghan

I am so glad you got the Old Navy set! It's the cutest. And that bag is great too, perfect spring/summer bag. Happy Friday and enjoy the time with your mom!
What does this mean for the Citizen McCain podcast? Are you guys still trying to work that out or are you transitioning to 2way? Love it so much, hope it stays but happy to listen elsewhere too!
