Feliz Cumpleanos Meghan -- a novelty here....to hear another perspective along with continuum of agreeing or disagreeing. Yet, in cultural pockets of absent nuance and binary notes....as with Senator McCain, I can appreciate a space of learning on the fly or changing perspective or addressing when one has evolved or misunderstood something if not then evolving in perspective. I miss your father's presence and I LOVE Arizona NOT only because I graduated from Tempe BUT for many reasons even when it wasn't or remains not so functional in collaboration during my visits as avoidable challenges came to enabled. Peace be with you. Again, happy birthday!!
Nice to be here. Meghan, have nothing but positive thoughts on your father. My Dad fought the Nazis in WW2 in France, my husband in Vietnam. I am a dyed in the wool card-carrying Democrat but I want to share my thoughts with everyone, whatever their political persuasion. We are still Americans, let us never forget that or our country!
Happy 40th Meghan. I absolutely love your podcast! I am a democrat but I value and respect your opinion. Looking forward to you getting me through the next 2 weeks and beyond! ❤️
Happy Birthday! I promise your 40s won’t be too bad… it’s more self actualization and getting closer to giving zero fucks - which is a good thing. Just keep your sense of humor and genuineness and it will be all good. I really hope this new year brings a breath of fresh air mentally and politically to us all. We need a re-set. I am enjoying your Podcast a lot, not alllll the guests (wink wink - I’m
more on the liberal side of the debates), but the topics are great. I also listen to your husband’s which drives me even more crazy; but I’m trying to stay open minded to more conservative right opinions and concerns. Thanks for trying to be a bridge for many of us. ~KS
Happy Birthday Meghan, I subscribed as a birthday present to myself, even though I really don't want to be on this platform. Being among writers like your husband & his ilk on a writer's platform comes with a major ick factor for me but at some point I have to stop living the life of a lesbian separatist so I'll learn about substack here. I really hope this doesn't just become a proxy outlet for Mr. D but it's your blog and you can do whatever you want. One of the reasons I was a separatist for so long is women often bring their partner into the room even when he is not physically present but the inverse is not the norm in men's spaces. Most women couldn't possibly compare it because they never experience existence free from men's up-close & personal influence. As a recovery and harm reduction specialist, banning men was integral in helping drug addicted women learn how to establish, and then thrive in healthier relationships with men. Since I couldn't legally ban men, I went indie & underground instead of choosing affiliation with corporate-care or academia. Ironically, I believe Ben would respect the boundaries I once imposed in mixed space, I just don't know if you would. He seems like he would do fine in an irl recovery meeting, you seem like an Al Anon gossip who just wants to hear the drama. I threw those women out first. But I could be totally wrong. idk you, maybe you would be based in recovery space? Being wrong can be fortunate fun. Neither you nor your husband expected you to be a good Mom but you were both wrong. And that's awesome for your girls. It does beg the question tho, when a deeply conservative man marries & mates with a woman he expects to fail at motherhood, what parenting plan did he have for his children going in? It's none of my business, or anyone else's, but it is the natural first question I would have for any father in a recovery setting. <3
Look forward to your perspective. 🤗
